Ajmer: The Rajasthan high court will hear a petition filed by former nazim (chief executive officer) of Ajmer dargah against his removal on February 5.
The former nazim, Ansar Ahmed, a lecturer in government college, Sawai Madhopur, was appointed as dargah nazim nearly seven months ago for a two-year term but was removed from his post by Union ministry of minority affairs last Saturday.

In his petition, Ahmed alleged that the ministry acted unilaterally under the influence of dargah committee chairman and its members without giving him a chance to argue his case.
According to sources, the relationship between the members of dargah committee and Ahmed soured after the latter objected to the opening of a permanent office for the committee chairman in the dargah premises. Ahmed objected to it saying it was an interference in the day-to-day working of nazim. The relationship got more strained after nazim refused to pass some inflated TA bills of dargah committee members, said sources. The appointment of accounts officer by Ahmed to oversee dargah accounts proved to be the last straw.
Meanwhile, dargah committee chairman Obaidullah Sharif refuted the charges leveled against the committee and himself. Sharif alleged that Ansar Ahmed was acting against the interest of dargah.
